Clarity Persignified

This sign is clearly of questionable value

[Bay Of Plenty, NZ, Nov 2010]
Stolen without permission from daughter's album, thanks Janine.

That's OK, no one is monitoring.

I tend to avoid mocking situations where English is a second language, but this is Seville Airport and they can afford to get it right.

There is a world of difference between a Closed-Circuit TV and a Closed-TV Circuit.

Politically Correct?

Jane Merrick snapped this in May 2010. Someone clearly wearing their politics on their sleeve, so to speak.  I wonder how long it lasted before the political correctness police stepped in.

Message Fail

Clearly the graffiti artist cannot read or he is really taking the mickey.

Spotted a while ago, they have not been called "Silverlink" for a year or so now.

Clearly not as slaves to fashion

Dean found this one in Franschhoek, SA.

It appears to be a charity shop or similar and I have to wonder how hard up you have to be before you only buy one shoe.

Last Orders

Only 15 hours of drinking time .., What are we supposed to do from 2 a.m. until 11 a.m.?  Sleep?

Questionable salads

And it may or may not be for a limited time.

Spotted in Los Angeles by "Tousled Pigtails" but I am guessing that is not her real name.

Thanks Tousled.

Police tautology

What do they sign-write on the unmarked squad cars?  "Strand undercover policing"

Anyone who can see the car does not need to be told it is "visible".

Dean Finnie, being a local, had quite a different take on it. "I was amused by the thought that the local police have to differentiate between the usual standard of invisible policing and this presumably 'premium' service of visible policing. It was the first time we'd seen the visible service!"

A good source of Vitamin Sea?

You may have click to enlarge to read the label for these "Naval" oranges.

David Miller apologises for his cellphone picture quality but well spotted anyway - thanks

If you ever need a Plan B

I found this "Plan B" at Montbrun les Bains in France. Feel free to use it when Plan A fails, as it so often does.

A question of life or death

Now, I am not the world's greatest linguist but even I could work out that the message here was a trifle inconsistent.
If you are Swiss, German, French or Italian it pays not to go swimming. "Mortal Danger" or "Danger of Death". However, if you are English - get on in there. "Danger of Life!"

And the point is?

Two stations I pass through every day are festooned with signs, all of which have "Temporary sign" in the corner. Apart from the fact that these signs have been there for months, what is the point of the addition in the corner? Does the travelling public care if the sign is temporary? No.

So apart from making extra work for the sign-writer and extra cost for the rail company, I am mystified.

Best suggestions please.

Not strictly true ...

Information is currently available, the information that the help point is not yet operating. A clearer message would be, "Sorry, this help point not in service."

Opposite what?

Opposite what? The house opposite, I suppose.

Just a little late

"PLEASE NOTE
This tree will be felled shortly"

Do you think someone should point out to the Department of Environment that the "tree" the notice is attached to was felled some years ago and milled into a fence post.

Mixed message

Not quite sure what Grant is telling the local voters here:
a) Vote for constancy by re-electing him.
b) Vote for change. (small text in corner)

No wonder the average UK voter is confused.

Wonder what over

I wonder what the scaffold is on strike over? Better conditions - don't like being out in all weathers? Want thicker planks? Shinier poles? Perhaps it is simply tired of being walked over by those higher up?

Mind the Gap

If you have ever visited London, you will know the expression "Mind the Gap"; it is seen and heard at every Tube (metro) and railway station.

Well, you will be pleased to know that London Underground also provide an "Emergency Gap Jumper" at certain stations. This one is a Piccadilly Circus.

Just in case you ever need one ...

So low, you can't get over it

The sign saying "Danger Low Railings" is at least 9' (3m) above the point where you stand to read it.

Extremely thin

In fact on a lovely day like this it is almost invisibly thin.

Really?

I thought it would be fine to let them loose in this huge London shopping mall on their own. After all, what could possibly go wrong?

Still you can't be too careful can you?

Still on the eating theme

Carmel Summers never mentioned whether she stopped for "Beans on toast" or not.

Aptly named

Contributor says "We did not enter as we were too uncertain of what we would find."

And rightly so.

But, hey, it was northern Alabama ...

A digital theme?

Joe Baclava found the first one at a petting zoo in NJ.

The second one was sent with only a email address, which I am not going to post.

What if it is not OK?

Playing around on a new Win 7 PC I got this.

And what was the question anyway?

Sorry for the lack of posts

I blame it on the fact that the walkway at my local station was closed. Although, I note that No Access managed to pass this point at some time in the past.
