Two stations I pass through every day are festooned with signs, all of which have "Temporary sign" in the corner. Apart from the fact that these signs have been there for months, what is the point of the addition in the corner? Does the travelling public care if the sign is temporary? No. So apart from making extra work for the sign-writer and extra cost for the rail company, I am mystified.
